Personality

Masters is at once handling the transition to the 25h century absurdly well, and absurdly badly. Masters was already a borderline case on the command track in the 23rd century, but at least back then a certain level of attitude and bravado was seen as a necessity when it came to exploring the final frontier. The 25th century is a very different environment which has trouble dealing with his quirks-and he has trouble adapting himself to it. As a result, he's been known to be somewhat insubordinate to superior officers, and is more willing to go his own way than to follow orders.

That said, he's discovered that people are still people, and Starfleet is still the best that the galaxy has to offer. He does have some issues that still cause him problems, though; while Starfleet is at war with the Klingons in his new time frame, it wasn't so long ago that they were valued allies of the Federation, and some were even in Starfleet. This is something that causes him trouble when he encounters Klingons who are still in Starfleet because they still believe in what the Federation represents; Masters has never known them to be anything other than ready to kill him at a moment's notice. The brighter side is that he has, thus far, none of the baggage carried by Starfleet when it comes to newer threats (from his perspective) such as the Borg and the Dominion.

Biography

Life in the 23rd Century

Early Career

First command

Masters started his career in Starfleet as an Engineer, proud to wear a red shirt. However, after a minor disaster struck on his cadet cruise, he was forced to take command of the Engineering department while the Chief was incapacitated. This prompted his captain to encourage him to look into the prospects of command. Masters took the suggestion seriously, and was put on the command track under Captain Garrett.

This led to him rising to the position of First Officer on the USS Pioneer, where he served with distinction until the incident on Taurus II, where his captain was promoted to Admiral, and he himself put in command of the USS Champion. Again, he served with distinction, until the Battle for Caleb IV, where the Champion was lost with all hands.

Or so history would have one believe. The truth was far more complex and amazing than one might have expected.

Pawn of Time

The truth begins with the revelation that one member of the Champion's crew was Temporal Agent Daniels, who had been watching the career of Lieutenant Masters with considerable interest. Daniels would reveal that he knew more than he should when the crew of the Champion encountered the Na'kuhl from a future time. Not long after, he would recruit Masters to correct interference from the Na'kuhl in past times within his own timeline.

The last assignment Daniels had in this capacity was the doom of the Champion, an event history demanded happen. But Daniels took advantage of that fact to save a select few on the ship to recruit as Temporal Agents...and arranged for them to arrive in the year 2409.

Temporal Agent

Masters was forced to acclimatize quickly to the new time. Along with most of his bridge crew, he has transferred from ship to ship, his path to Captain speed up dramatically by the realities of the Klingon War. In between mission in serving as a Captain in Starfleet, he has also been involved with a number of temporal anomalies, most of which were dealt with without the assistance of Agent Daniels, or even contact. Masters proved quickly to be one of the rising stars of the Fleet, and many of his supposed contemporaries-who had no clue of his 23rd century origins-weren't surprised that he rose to command a Galaxy-class starship, the USS Orca.

After the Iconian War, Masters was volunteered to witness the signing of the Temporal Accords in the future-where the Orca was lost. However, at that point, he was furnished with a new vessel of that time-the Connor-because their own histories indicated that this was the time he fully became a Temporal Agent.

Hobbies/Pastimes

Masters didn't have too much time or space to indulge in exotic hobbies as an officer in the 23rd century.

Now that he's in the 25th, however, he's had more leisure time than he expected-in part due to the nature of this era's Starfleet, even in times of war. Masters enjoys spending his time building cars-well, holographic cars, on the holodeck, and then racing in them in that environment. He's hardly an expert, but much like his success as a Captain, he's developing very quickly.

Political Ideology

Masters is not a fan of the Klingons, and views them as treacherous opportunists-which describes the Klingons as they were in his century. He has a hard time reconciling that view with the current day honor-and-battle obsessed Klingon Empire. Likewise, the combative Romulans have become sneaky and treacherous. People who have spoken with Masters have heard him complain that "It's like the Romulans and Klingons switched places! What's the deal with that?"
